Re: Comments on Frankston 2025 Conference Report

I think the report is a good summary of the day.

Maybe I missed it (I skipped through the report relatively quickly) but I was expecting a 'what now or what's next' summary at the end.

I think even now, many people who attended the conference are vague about the rest of the process and where the work done on those two days sits in the scheme of things.

Re: Comments on Frankston 2025 Conference Report

Jeff,

Thank you for your comments on the report. For your information, we have prepared a more detailed Discussion Paper that outlines the 'future steps' in creating the community vision for Frankston 2025.

To download the Discussion Paper, go to the 'Want to know more?' section of this Web site. The paper outlines the process, which is essentially:

1. Visions for our Future Event - 4 Sep 2006
2. Frankston 2025 Conference - 22,23 Sep 2006
3. Frankston 2025 Community Workshops - throughout October 2006.
4. Identification of gaps in representation - i.e., hard to reach groups. For example, additional engagement of the youth, mums and dads, indigenous community as required (meetings, surveying, one-on-one interviews).
5. Consideration of an ongoing Community Reference Panel / Steering Group (NOW) - looking at ways to continue the momentum...
6. Evaluate the outcomes of the community engagement and draft the vision (Jan - Mar 07)
7. Public exhibition of the vision (Apr 07)
8. Council to review its Council Plan in 2007/08 - informed by the community vision for Frankston 2025.

Please note that we are trying to be flexible throughout this process, taking on board new learnings along the way. So many of the steps are being informed by community feedback and we hope in this way we can together map the best way forward for Frankston 2025.

Regards,
Rachel Weaver.

Re: Comments on Frankston 2025 from BLAIRLOGIE

There need more wheelchair buses in Frankston and accessible places for people in wheelchairs. There needs to be wider ailes in the shops tor people in wheelchairs. There could be more disabled parking and disabled toilets.
We need more self contained and staff supported units in Frankston for people with disabilities.
Trains need to be safer and have some seats with seatbelts. We are asked to make a contribution to our community (part of the Mutual obligation policy of the Federal government ) but there are no jobs available for people with disabilities.
